Correcting historical wrongs or rewriting history? | Renaming places, rewriting history | The Probe

The politics of naming and renaming roads, public places, and heritage spots is gaining momentum in India today. While the government, both at the Centre and the States, claim that they are trying to erase marks of our colonial legacy through such renaming, historians say such name changes rob places of their history, and the focus should instead shift to bettering the amenities of heritage sites and public roads.
